The Wonder of How God Speaks
I have now been at Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Perth for over two weeks. During this time I have received new understanding of who God is and lies that I have believed about God. Currently I am participating in a Discipleship Training School (DTS) that focuses on frontier missions. This means taking the message of Jesus to people who have never even heard His name. In our DTS we range in age from 19 years to 72 years old and we represent 7 different countries. It has amazed me to see 19 people from different nations with different backgrounds and languages to come together under the same purpose to know God and to make God known.
Before I came to do my DTS I thought that God only spoke to those people that he chose, and that I was not one of those people. I believed that if God wanted to say something to me that someone else would have to relay the message along. I now truly believe the reality that God speaks, and he speaks to all people. God spoke the world into being, and it is that same voice that speaks to me on a daily basis. Satan does not want me to hear the voice of God. For to hear God’s voice means a relationship with Him, and that is Satan’s worst nightmare. A relationship with God means that I not only know things about God but that I know him on a personal level. I spend time with him, I talk to him, and he talks to me. The beauty of God is that even in his unfathomable size and wisdom he still desires to know me and to speak to me. He wants to speak to me about everything, from the big picture to the smallest detail.
I love the freedom that comes with truly knowing that God speaks. There is no mystery of who he is or pressure of failure. As long as I am willing to listen and obey, he will speak to me. As I move forward in my DTS I am excited to learn more about God and to hear his voice in all that I do.
