Certificate III in Discipleship (10473NAT)
There are no prerequisites to join this DTS.
As we look at God, we become like the One we behold. Lecture phase will include 12 weeks of solid teaching and one-on-one discipleship centred around Him, alongside dynamic worship, intercessory prayer, and quiet times with God. You'll learn more about who He is and go deeper in your personal relationship with Him. As you apply God’s truth in your own life, you’ll be equipped through weekly workshops to reach youth at risk, such as indigenous Australians, street youth, and refugees.
Allow God to lay a strong foundation of relationship that He will continue to build upon, whether that includes working with marginalized populations in a missions context, employment, further studies, or anything else God would call you to. He also wants to impart His heart for the people groups and nations around the world!
Engage with issues of injustice, and learn how to practically come alongside at risk youth through weekly workshops. Topics will include God’s justice, protective factors, processing trauma, advocacy, and engaging youth through meaningful activity such as sports, art therapy principles, and education.
The call to discipleship is the opportunity for change. Alongside your own personal time with God, you’ll be championed by staff who are committed to walking with you. You’ll meet regularly to process what God is saying and doing in your life.
Be part of a missions community that is committed to loving God and making Him known together. You'll be transformed alongside others in the school, often resulting in life-long friendships with people from all around the world!
As you go deeper in your own relationship with God, be empowered to minister to the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of youth on the edges of society. Outreach may take you to work regionally amongst Aboriginal Australian youth in Western Australia, or internationally, coming alongside refugees or urban street youth. At the heart of outreach is reaching others with a message of hope through knowing Jesus. You will engage with people from all walks of life through mercy ministry, teaching, and evangelism.
Where God’s character has been misrepresented, you’ll have opportunity to re-present Him to others. Speak out of your own experience, introducing God to those who don’t know Him as a good Father!
Apply skills practiced on lecture phase in real-life situations. Engage young people in processing through trauma using art therapy principles, and meaningful activity, such as sport, to build resilience.
Just as a catalyst increases the rate of a reaction, you’ll partner with existing organisations and churches in the field to strengthen that which exists and pioneer what is needed.
