The Lecture Phase

12 weeks of going deeper in your relationship with God through teaching and personal application

The Homes of Hope Discipleship Training School is designed to guide you in understanding God more, to help you grow in your personal relationship with Him and to teach you how you can use your passion and practical skills to extend God's Kingdom.
The 12 weeks of lectures cover different topics such as the nature and character of God and the father heart of God. The focus of this time is not just to gain greater knowledge of who God is but also to apply that truth to your life.
Your weeks will include worship times, prayer times, catching up and processing in small groups, personal discipleship, sports, serving in various ways in the YWAM Perth community, plus lots of adventures in and around the city. The Homes of Hope DTS is for anyone who likes to be hands-on and has the heart to serve God and show His love in very practical ways.

What you'll experience during the lecture phase.

Discipleship

We're serious about providing you with ongoing discipleship and support. Part of this happens through one-on-one mentorship. Each week you will get a chance to talk about what is being taught, process, ask questions and think about how to live it out. There are also many opportunities to actively respond to what you're learning in small group or class time.

More Than Just Lectures

Encounter God through worship, one-on-one discipleship, small group discussion times, prayer, random fun, practical service, evangelism, events and more. You get to do all of this while in the context of living in a great Christian community.

Practical Skills

Learn specific skills that will equip you for outreach. We focus primarily on basic building skills and community development, but also cover topics like Bible study, teaching, and evangelism.
The skills we learn are not just for us to use, but also for us to teach others while we are on outreach. We love to empower the communities we partner with.

Outreach Phase

Make God Known: three months of actively bringing the love of God to the nations

Outreach is when you get the opportunity to apply and live out all that you've learned during the lecture phase, and to obey the command of Jesus to "go into all the world and make disciples". You'll get to experience life in a different culture, language, and setting. You'll see how God loves the nations of the earth and what is happening in missions worldwide. There will be many types of opportunities during outreach to serve including teaching, meeting practical needs and evangelism. The Homes of Hope DTS teams will specifically focus on locations where we can help practically and build homes for those in need.

Mission experiences during the outreach phase.

Building Homes

The Homes of Hope DTS will partner with YWAM Perth's ongoing Homes of Hope ministry. This ministry works to provide shelter for those in need. They are currently working in three different locations Nepal, East Timor and the Philippines. It will be a great experience building in cooperation with the ministry Homes of Hope and the families and communities they partner with.

Mercy Ministry

We offer practical help to those who need it, whether that's praying for the sick, visiting slum communities, providing basic health care or other forms of hands-on service.

Preach the Gospel

Sharing the gospel can be done in many different ways. Whether you are doing an open-air testimony in front of a large crowd, having a one-on-one conversation about the gospel with someone who has never heard it before or sharing an encouraging word at a local church - you'll have many different opportunities to share the love of God with those who need to hear it.
