Certificate III in Discipleship (10473 NAT)
There are no prerequisites to join this DTS.
The Frontier Discipleship Training school includes a lecture phase and an overseas outreach.
Lecture phase consists of three months of training through classroom teaching, regular intercession and worship times, and one-on-one discipleship. Join the fun of growing and learning God’s ways while surrounded by a community that values celebration, food, and fellowship. During this phase, we also have focused, impactful prayer for closed nations on the earth.
This school will be a bilingual school: Mandarin and English.
There will also be the opportunity for non-English speaking Chinese students to use our language lab on base, to improve their spoken English.
This school is a great opportunity to spend concentrated, quality time with God. You will be discipled by staff and teachers in what it means to pursue God with a whole heart, as well as receive practical tips on how to apply in the target nations what you have learned.
Youth With A Mission Perth is an international community made up of approximately 40 nationalities. This school will also comprise of many cultures and races.
Your cross-cultural training will start the day you arrive!
Part of our school focus is to learn to love and appreciate other cultures and to learn what it means to understand and take on Kingdom Culture as our main identity.
We are committed to seeing you grow in your understanding of who God is, to help bring you to your full potential and seeing you continually develop your relationship with God and other people.
You will meet with a trusted school staff member every week who will come alongside you, listen to you, and help you process through any questions or challenges you may face.
After the lecture phase, we will go off on a 12-week cross-cultural outreach.
During this time, you get to be part of God's invitation to go with Him into the world and share the Good News (Mark 16:15).
Together with your outreach team, you will go to a frontier location - probably somewhere along the ancient 'Silk Road' - in order to reach out to the people found there - to love them, pray for them, and share Good News with them.
You'll get to experience life in a different culture, language, and setting. You'll see how God loves the nations of the earth and what is happening in missions worldwide. You will be able to deeply impact the lives of individuals that we come across and see them come to know Jesus.
We will be going to nations that today lie along the ancient trade routes called the "Silk Road".
These run all the way from China in the east to the Middle East/North Africa in the west. We will pray along these routes to see doors opened up for thousands to follow after with the gospel. We will worship Jesus and testify to people of who He is to all who will open their lives to Him.
In developing nations, one current big need is discipleship. You will have just completed 12 weeks of lectures on who God is, so you will have much to share and pass on to others. The Lord will lead us to people who are hungry to learn and know Him deeper. One great honour we experience on outreach is getting to share in churches, on the streets, hospitals, in people's homes and coffee shops - teaching them that they can know God more, so they can share more with those that live and work around them.
Maybe God will call you to be further equipped during your DTS.
We have training available one week after your DTS outreach ends called a School of Frontier Missions (SOFM). This exciting 3-month course will go to the next level in specific longer term preparation for frontier nations. Interested? Then let us know, and also look at the October 2nd level schools on this website. If you are interested and haven’t yet done the DTS, please pray about coming to Perth for the nine months, so as to include the further training.
