This school is for everyone who has a passion for communicating through film. Throughout the lecture phase, you will develop practical skills in all areas of filmmaking through hands-on experience. You will also learn how to take your ideas and turn them into film projects that challenge the audience's thinking. Together we will discover what it means to be a Kingdom of God filmmaker; making projects that bring life.
God hand-picked the craftsmen that would build His temple, and then He gave to them all the knowledge and wisdom that they needed. In the same way, I believe God calls us to be His crew when we make movies. The Film Production School is for people who believe they are called to serve God as a filmmaker. It doesn’t matter the size of production you will be working on in the future. During the school, we will look at the character of God together. What if God was a filmmaker? What if He was the director on the set? The cinematographer? Producer? Together we will learn what it means to be a Kingdom of God filmmaker as we serve in each of these roles.
Through this school, you will learn how to create with God and make films that bring life. You will also acquire practical skills through hands-on experience, having opportunities to work in each of the different roles on a film set. As staff members, we are committed to supporting the ideas and vision that God has given to you, as we work alongside one another, strengthening our existing filmmaking community. Does this sound like what you've been looking for? Then come and join us and be a part of what God is doing here at YWAM Perth!
Georges Méliès is a famous filmmaker who introduced innovative special effects into his filmmaking. He created the first real science fiction film, Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A Trip to the Moon) in 1902, which was a major success. This was his 400th film. We can all be great filmmakers, just like Méliès. It just takes practice. The Film School will give you structured time to practice your craft in a safe and constructive environment. We will work alongside one another as we improve our skills and learn to invite God into the creative process.
