Films the reflect God's truth and love for the world
The Documentary Filmmaking Seminar will help you to carry a deeper understanding of God's heart for a need or a situation, and to express that burden through films that communicate with truth and integrity.
Over the four weeks of the seminar, students will receive practical training which will help them to research a community or a need and to carry the burden of that in prayer. At the same time, they will learn the filmmaking skills to record interviews and capture the sights and sounds that will be needed to share that story in an engaging documentary movie.
Whether you are an experienced filmmaker or brand new to the field, this seminar will help you to produce films built on integrity, hope, and compassion.
Communicating with integrity means sharing about a situation as God sees it. The only way we can do that is to carry things in prayer. The Seminar will have an emphasis on intercession as an essential part of the process of developing our documentary films.
Stories that are worth sharing are happening all around us. Seminar participants will learn to unpack these stories through prayer, research and face-to-face relationship. We want to have a deep understanding of our topic, so that we can articulate God's heart through the films we create.
Get practical with cameras, lights and computers, and become strong in the techniques needed to put together an effective documentary film. The Seminar will provide practical opportunities to develop and create projects, side-by-side with fellow participants, learning from those who have gone before.
This Seminar is the first in a series of three seminars, which includes the Contextual Filmmaking Seminar and the Photo Storytelling Seminar. These seminars may be taken individually or back-to-back, depending on your training needs.
At the conclusion of the three seminars, an optional outreach will be offered that is open to all seminar participants. Travel with experienced staff into an unreached or needy situation, and put your skills into practice, using media to enhance our communication of the love of God to those who need it most.
This optional outreach will begin at the conclusion of the third seminar, at the end of October.

You will partner with missionaries and local believers to produce media resources that share godly truth right where the people are.
You will be part of creating tools that will continue to be used to advance God's kingdom in some of the neediest parts of the world.
