In response to COVID-19 restriction, we’ve had to temporarily scale back from the 20+ DTSes we usually run each year. Read more about our usual range here or find out about our upcoming October 2021 DTS and January 2022 DTS!
Use your passion and skill in music to be a voice of truth and hope. Whatever the genre, whatever the instruments, music plays an important role in reflecting and shaping culture.
Music DTS is a chance to grow in your relationship with God and use your gifts for His purposes.
Start out with three months of focused discipleship in our international missions community. All of our training focuses on application, not just information. You’ll have opportunity to encounter God, not just through time in a classroom, but through worship, serving, small group discussion, sharing the gospel and more. We’ll look at topics like hearing God’s voice, His nature and character, missions and evangelism.
The Music DTS offers the same essential DTS training and experience, while also focussing on the creativity of God expressed through music. We will have an awesome time together as we develop bands made up of students and staff on the school and get experience performing together. Then on outreach we’ll get to use our music to reach people with the gospel.
On outreach we’ll take our music to tiny venues and open-air events, wherever we can use our gifts to connect and engage. We’ll also share the gospel directly to people through evangelism, have opportunities to pass on training, and show people the love of Jesus through practical mercy ministry.
We’ll wrap up with a week back in Perth, sharing stories of all God’s done and looking ahead to what He has next. It doesn’t end there though - A DTS opens doors to all kinds of training and missions opportunities! We invite you to get further training at YWAM Perth through courses such as our School of Worship, or join staff to continue the journey of serving Jesus in the nations with an initiative like Island Breeze. One of the many ministries we did while In Japan was minister to the homeless, giving them clothes, food, sharing testimonies and the gospel and praying for them. We had seen a man who was not able to stand straight because his back was damaged from all the work he’d done when he was young. We came alongside of him with a translator and asked to pray for his back, he said yes! Before we prayed, a few others put their hands up wanting prayer too, so they joined the group. As we prayed for the man with back problems who was bent over, he slowly moved from being bent over to standing straight in the space of one minute. He could not help but smile and we were able to share that this was the work of Jesus through us. God is moving in power still!
