The Sports Discipleship Training School is built for athletes and those who like to be active.
It starts off with 12 weeks of teaching where you'll not only learn about God and missions but live out what you're learning.
You'll also get to be involved with different ministries on the base, have lots of prayer and worship times, and of course, play plenty of sport!
One evening during the week, we have teams entered into sports leagues in Perth, so you'll get to go out and play teams from around the city. We usually enter indoor soccer, volleyball and basketball leagues, depending on what most students on the school play.
Your walk with God is about to take on a new and exciting territory. As you learn from dynamic teaching, meet with your staff, and apply truth, your relationship with God will grow. Join your classmates as you discover together what it means to know God and respond to the truth of who He is.
The South West is one of Australia's best-kept secrets. You will have the opportunity to get out and about in the beautiful city of Perth with its great beaches and parks. We will also head out away from the city for a couple nights during the lecture phase to spend time as a class - Australian style. The weather will be spring going into summer - perfect for the beach and sports.
Outreach is about bringing the gospel to people in word and in deed.
We focus our outreaches on the Indian Ocean Gateway - the circle of nations surrounding the Indian Ocean - which contain people that need to know about the love and truth of God
You'll get to share the gospel in all sorts of ways and situations, pray for the sick, organise sports tournaments, serve in slums, teach the Bible, run kid's programs and show God's love through whatever opportunity arises.
Partnering with the long-term work and contacts is a part of your outreach. As you work alongside these amazing people, you will enter into their world of what it means to be on the field full time. Do not be surprised if you make life long friends as you work in communities to improve the lives of the those in need both practically and spiritually.
Sports are an incredibly effective way to connect with people, so we often try to get to know people by playing a game with them. We start friendly games with people, organise tournaments, run clinics, or just join in wherever a ball is present! We can then share Christ as we develop our relationship with them.
Talking about your relationship with God and the truth about who He is, has the power to transform. Whether it be teaching in youth groups, preaching in churches or teaching English to kids, there will be opportunities to share on outreach. Get ready to grow in your ability to communicate!
