ABOUT

The Surf/Skate DTS is a school that aims to disciple and mobilize surfers and skateboarders to get into the mission field. This YWAM school is exclusively for those who are already either surfers or skateboarders.

The schedule is full with time in class, small groups, one on one’s, work duties, time in the water and time at a variety of skate parks. We aim to surf 2-3 times per week and skate at specific parks each week. One of the main reasons we go is to let others know who God is and what he’s done in our lives. We’ll get our fill of surfing and skateboarding, but the DTS is all about knowing God more and making Him know. He is our priority.

There are many world class waves in Western Australia such as Margaret River, which is only three hours south of Perth. We aim to make two or more trips down there each school as well as to some excellent waves north of Perth like Yanchep, Lancelin, Geraldton, and Kalbarri. We know the spots and this is the best time of year for all of these breaks.

In the city of Perth there are also a large variety of skate parks to “hit up”.
The city really has done a great job of making them in a lot of different suburbs - some of which are very near the YWAM base. Plus there are a lot of great hills to go down and a few parking structures.

All in all, you will grow in your relationship with God, learn about missions and make lots of great friends along the way.
