Teaching Children about Evangelism

Story written by Alissah Mudie, Children at Risk School outreach 2014 –

Although we teach children about evangelism, I have to admit sometimes as adults we don’t trust that they really understand what they’re doing when they share Jesus with those around them.  Today a 10-year-old girl popped up her hand and asked “How can I relate to others who have had really bad things happen to them, when bad things haven’t happened to me?” What a sincere and pure question that showed her heart to really share the most precious thing she had with others.

“How can I relate to others who have had really bad things happen to them, when bad things haven’t happened to me?”

We were able to teach her about how often we look at the outside but God sees our hearts and that all of us go through pain in our hearts and need God to bring healing. She understood straight away and was beaming as we finished church – knowing that she had something in common with all people and a starting point for sharing the good news. A  great reminder of why we are called to be like children!
