Jesus Adventures in the Land Down Under

I’ve officially finished week 1 in Perth. I feel like I’ve been here much longer than that already and things are just now starting to rev up. Last week, we spent our time becoming acquainted with the base, the community and our new life for the next season.

God must be the focal point and foundation for all that we do.

Mike Morris, the SOMM school leader introduced us to music and missions and we all as a class spent a lot of time together, growing as a familial community. I expect great things from our group. The SOMM is made up of 10 students who have dedicated the next 6 months to growing in their calling of music and missions. I know God is preparing us for great things and I can’t wait to see how He will move in the months to come.

Lasts weeks introduction to SOMM led me to contemplate the most fundamental key to living a life sold out for the call of Jesus. God must be the focal point and foundation for all that we do. We must know Him intimately in order to share Him with others. Before we can step into any calling, we must first understand who God is, who we are in Him and what He has first and foremost called us to do, “to love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.”

Learning the ways of His kingdom is never anything less than an adventure. Being called to this life is nothing less than an amazing privilege.”

This is especially true for music ministry. Someone once told me that art is inherently selfish. That’s why worship leaders and artists are on the front lines of attack from the enemy. Lucifer himself was the leader of worship before IMG_0527He fell from Heaven. We must constantly be in submission to the Lord and not in any way let pride set in and switch our focus. Jesus is the key.

To have a firm foundation within music ministry we must know God ourselves. We must know His character and speak with Him intimately. Otherwise, how can we give the kingdom back to others?

We can only give from ourselves what has already been established from our own personal revelations with Jesus. We must take up our cross, deny ourselves and submit our talents given to us by God, in order to fulfill the great commissionfor the glory of His name. There is so much to know about God. He is so other than anything we as humans can know and fully grasp. That is why He is called Holy. He is set apart, like nothing else.

We must constantly be in submission to the Lord and not in any way let pride set in and switch our focus. Jesus is the key.

God has also been teaching me about trust. If trust is the opposite of fear and He reiterates 365 times in His word, “Do not fear” then essentially He is saying, trust me every day of the year. We have to trust that in His infinite wisdom, greatness, and love, He will show us the way. He will lead us to Him and our destinies for Him. The enemy wants us to fear because it takes our focus off of Jesus and truth, but trust draws us to cling to the cross.

I’m learning to trust Him more deeply, even when I can’t feel Him or see where He is taking me. I’m learning

Learning the ways of His kingdom is never anything less than an adventure. Being called to this life is nothing less than an amazing privilege. I hope and pray that I am able to bring Him glory as I pour out what He has so faithfully chosen to pour into me.
patience and endurance, commitment and faithfulness. Just as HE has pursued me for so long without expectation, I am learning to go after Him just because He is my best in everything. He is worth the search; my best friend. Even when I can’t feelHim right beside me, I trust that He is there as soon as I call out His name.

His,
Ali
