How God Spoke to me about Malaysia

When I first started SOFM last year, I had no idea where God was calling me. It seemed like everyone was heading to China, so that’s where I thought I was going. During SOFM we had amazing speakers come in, and one of them said to ask God to give you a heart for a city. Well I asked God, and I got a city name stuck in my head. It was Penang. It sounded like it was a city name in China, but no it was a city in Malaysia. I had never even heard of this city before then. So my leader and I prayed long and hard about Penang. We both believed that God really wanted me to go there. It was awesome to have my leader pushing into the presence of God with me. The lecture phase of SOFM was great.

I took off to Malaysia, by myself, but the YWAM base there had created a team of guys that would be working with me. I learned more things about missions in the three months I was in Malaysia than in my lecture phase. The best part was that I made great Muslim friends there, and they were so open to hearing about God. In fact three of my Iraqi friends were happy to receive my gift of a Bible to them, and they still keep in contact with me through email.
