VISION
PathWay is a ministry of services to refugees and immigrants from Unreached People Groups now living in Western Australia. It uses customized help in areas of individual, group and community felt needs, to share the love and gospel of Jesus Christ with these people. PathWay seeks to see these people integrated into Australia and the Kingdom of God.
ABOUT
Australia is one of the most multi-cultural nations on earth, welcoming people from around the world who, for one reason or another, have sought a place of refuge. They come due to a variety of causes, including natural disasters, war, lack of opportunity and oppression. They come legally and illegally. They come alone or in large groups. They come looking for a new home.
However, many of these people have a hard time integrating into the daily life of Australia. They know neither the language nor the culture, and often there is no one to teach them. Unintentionally they do things that alienate them from the general population, and begin to segregate into their own communities. The two sides grow further apart due to a simple lack of understanding.
PathWay seeks to bridge that gap. There are simple ways of helping meet the felt needs of refugee individuals and groups. PathWay looks to empower new arrivals to integrate with the locals, in the communities where they live. It is easy to teach language and culture, basic survival skills such as getting around the city or learning to cook some Aussie food. What is second nature to Aussies can help a welcomed foreigner get settled.
However, cultural difficulties cannot be overcome simply by learning a new language or recipe. A common ground must be found – one where neither race nor any other factor separates people. PathWay believes the greatest common ground that can do this is the love and gospel of Jesus Christ. Colossians 3:9b-11 says that there is no separation of differing peoples when we decide to follow Christ and put our identity in Him. Australia’s new arrivals can be empowered to integrate well into Australia through knowing Christ.
