New Testimonies just in from J-city

.. would you kiss his feet? "Three of us were walking through a slum when we were called into a lady's house to pray for a man who had had a stroke 3 years earlier. He had not much feeling in his right side and had very little movement in his arm. He was pushing 100 years old. Between the 3 of us we prayed for him 3 times and each time he got a little more movement and feeling. We were really stoked, apparently he had bad head ache that made him dizzy and nauseous before we started praying for him and after he was completely fine. We came back the next Tuesday and he we found that he was living with his other son for a few days, but he was completely healed! So Praise for that!" - Jordan, Discipleship Training School team member

"On Sunday we went to a church and then to do outreach with the youth after. The Sports DTS from Perth was also there and we mixed up teams with the local youth. My group, Rachel from Perth and three locals went to a house of a Christian man who had a hole in his stomach from an operation to remove a tumor. He was in tremendous pain and couldn't eat or it would come out of his stomach. We prayed for him and nothing happened. We decided to pray until something does happen. The man said the pain felt like a burning fire in is stomach, but when we prayed the second time, he felt a smoke that he said he knew was Jesus doing a miracle because then his stomach felt cool. We decided to keep praying for the wound and he said when we laid hands on him, he felt warmth of the H0ly Spirit coming into him. Two weeks later we visited the same church and discovered that the man that had received healing!!" - Gretchen, Discipleship Training School Team leader

"Three of us went to the slum, after praying for God's direction we met a lady whose daughter had been healed when an earlier team have visited and prayed for her during the third wave. We talked to her and began asking questions about her daughter's healing and God, eventually sharing Jesus and the Gospel with her. The Spirit was moving in her and about twenty minutes later she accepted Jesus into her life, praise the Lord!" - Discipleship Training School team member

"We went to a slum area where we met a man who had Tuberculosis and also many swollen wounds, itchy infections and red sores on his body. His hands and feet were also swollen. At that time, three girls from the BAS Team and I prayed for him. We prayed together out loud. When we were praying, I heard a voice who asked me, "Jon, if you want to see this man healed, would you like to kiss his feet?" It sounded crazy, but because I didn't want to be disobedient I kissed his feet three times (as I was asked). Then we continued to pray and sometimes we worshipped God through singing songs. When we all prayed, I laid my hands down on his head, I saw deliverance, I saw his body shaking. We still continued to pray until finally we shared about Jesus. He was healed and that day he and his wife were saved." - Jon, Discipleship Training School team member

Urgent need for English teachers in Cambodia

Prayer request for English teachers for CambodiaI have received an email requesting English teachers for Cambodia. If you would like to go to be the answer to this please contact me.

Please continue to intercede for us. December is so near and we have not heard from someone or any group who would like to come help us in December and January for all our English classes at the English Training Center #1. The staff who was sent by a U of N base to help us while Sokly is away will be returning to the base early December. So that leaves our 1st center with no English teachers. Deb, our teacher from English Training #2 will definitely go home on the 15th of December for a month off. So please remember us. Our church planting ministry has been very great that the Lord has sent regular students attending our Sunday discipleship. Despite this lack of teachers challenge, God is at work in the lives of our students. Many of our students have been employed now a days due to the trainings they have received from us. So please continue to lift us up in your prayers. Blessings to all of you.

Be my witnesses

What God wants to doThis morning I was waiting on God for what He had to say for the 2009 ACCS. He took me to Isaiah 43:1 - 13. There is so much He was saying through this passage and I will continue to read it and listen to Him. Here is a little of what He has already been saying.

He wants to bring strength and courage to those who come and do the school. He wants to remind you that wherever he takes you, even if it is a tough and maybe dangerous place, He will be with us to take us through to His end purpose. We are "precious and honored in His sight" and He will not allow us to be harmed. He is calling us/you to come but, more than that, He will use you to gather others from the east, the west, the north and the south so that they too can know that they are precious and they are safe with Him.

"You are my witnesses" declares the Lord, "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He" (verse 10).

You will lead out those who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf (verse 8).

I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior (verse 11).

The Lord - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - is the one person who can bring release to people from what keeps them captive and in pain. In the school you will learn techniques, skills and models but these are only useful in the context of understanding who He is and how He works so that we can bring people into His loving arms where they will receive what they need.

It is our witness of Him to others that will be our most valuable asset in helping those we reach out to. God wants to reveal more of Himself to you through this school. In knowing Him better and receiving His truth you will be equipped for mighty works.

prepare the way

School of Worship 2009Isaiah 40:3 talks about preparing the way for the Lord. John the Baptist used this scripture to describe his role in preparing the way for Jesus.

This is also the scripture that God spoke to me about for the upcoming April 2009 School of Worship.

You see, worship is a great tool for preparing the way for the Lord. Psalm 22:3 promises us that God dwells in the praises of His people. When God turns up it's a good thing! The enemy flees and people are more open to the Gospel. I've seen this personally in cities all over the world.

Verse 5 of Isaiah 43 tells us what the purpose of the prepartation is: "And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it."

This cuts right to the heart of why we run the School of Worship. All over the planet there are people who need to see the glory of the Lord revealed... and if they truly see Him they will love Him!

Why don't you come and join the School of Worship 2009 and help us prepare the way of the Lord!?

SUMMER DTS IS COMING

Still time for you to be a part of ...The 2009 January Young Peoples DTS. We would love to have you with us for the school. One of the best things about the school is it takes place right in the middle of Aussie Summer - a bit of a bonus if you are coming from the Northern Hemisphere... This pic is from this last weekend... Down the beach.

Thats Landon, Alicia, Abby and Amy. Abby and Amy will be staffing the YPDTS so you would be getting to know them very well on the school! Landon and Alicia will be 'official friends' of the YP.

The sun wasn't quite convincing yet but what better way to spend a summer's day... then cruising the beach.... hanging out at one of the local cafes, drinking smoothies.. eating burgers that we couldn't quite get into our mouths in one piece (or else Abby and I are just really messy eaters...), and getting refreshed after a week of staff retreat .

Staff retreat was supposed to refresh us... and definitely did spiritually but not quite physically as we all take the opportunity to cram as much into the day as possible... (actually what am I saying - most afternoons I was falling asleep by the pool...). It was a great week of teaching, application, worship.... sport, games, pool time (where I clocked up some serious hours..).

Now we are back in the office... and my main role is preparing for the YPDTS. Emailing all the people who enquire for the school and staying in touch with everyone who is coming - and I'm pretty stoked to do that. There is an incredible crew of people already coming - from USA, Canada, Switzerland, Holland, Brazil, Denmark, Malaysia, Denmark, UK, and applications in process from Aus, Thailand, NZ...

DTS is a time of encountering God. Its a solid 6 months of your life set aside.. investing in knowing Him, trusting Him to speak. to do the things that you really want to see happen in your life, to be equipped in reaching out, to grow in your vision for His purposes.... It may be a continuation of what He has already been doing in your life... It may be a time to make a 180.. and get to know this God who you have always heard and learnt about.. Its a time to experience Him and follow Him out onto the adventure of your life. It is a time that changes things... Life will never be the same. Your perspective will never be the same. Its a risk for sure - change. But who better to trust your life to then Him. He has dreams that He wants you to be a part of fulfilling.

As a staff we will be praying for the school and just seeing what God is saying about it. As a base we have been hearing many powerful words lately... challenging us to know God more as we take His message out to the nations.

On base the October schools are now more than halfway through their Lecture Phase... and starting to look towards their outreach... some pretty inspiring nations feature in their outreach locations - Ethiopia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Tanzania, Thailand, and a few that I won't mention on here.... but definitely incredible opportunity for these guys to see God move in power.

Ok.. would love to hear from you if you are wanting to know more about the school.

Just get in touch with us here -

info@ywamperth.org.au

+ 61 8 9 328 5321

You can even fill out the application on-line and just email it through. Or else fax it to us at + 61 8 9 328 1324

I would really love to fill you in more but I'll just say that although the Surfers DTS is one incredible life changing opportunity our hopes our to partner with many of the other ongoing world wide surfing ministries so we can all work together in reaching the lost and unreached of this hurting, dirty and dying world.
Needless to say there are big hopes, dreams, adventures, to be looking forward to in the upcoming years with us in the Surfers DTS so come and Join us and be a part of how God wants to use the Surfers of the world to make a difference.

Outreach

News from the front lines!Last week, Friday, we all went down to this large and congested intersection under a freeway where the street kids hang out. Later in the evening when the traffic is really heavy they come down to play mini guitar type instruments for passengers while they are waiting in their cars. If they like the performance then they give the kids some money. When the traffic starts to move they come and hang out with each other in the dusty median. There are children of all ages and various tales but their goal is the same... to make enough money in a day to survive. The night that we went down, only a few children were there. Some people from the local church came out and some of the guys that we have been working with where there and so it was a bit slow at the beginning. But as the night wore on many kids started to show up. Jonathan brought his guitar and was letting the kids play it and they were singing lots of songs and then we were teaching them some worship songs as well. They were so fast to pick up the songs. One of the girls knew 'Who rocks the party' and she was playing and singing along with Jono. It was incredible to watch them be so eager to learn new music and then they would go and play these new songs, proclaiming God, to the cars to make some money. It is exciting to see them spreading the praises of our God all over the city.

During that night there was one girl about eight who was sitting on the wall the whole time and not playing and singing with the rest of the kids. She was a bit dirty and more quiet than the others. One of the translators came and sat with her for the whole night. They began to talk about the singing and after some explanation about the gospel, she decided that she wanted to have Jesus with her all the time. They prayed and she repeated. Then as we sat there some more, she began to ask questions. Her questions were serious questions about how she should live and respond to things based on her confession of Jesus. These weren't just sunday school questions, they were thought about and she was really looking for some serious answers. It was wonderful to see the translator talking with her while she sat and listened nestled up against her.

Then later another older guy came along and he has been on the streets for along time. I am not exactly sure how it happened but I looked to my right and the translator next to me was praying with him. He also accepted Jesus and was saying a prayer with her. He then took out his earring and renounced the spiritual authorities that it represented in his life. It is awesome to watch the power of God work in peoples lives.

January Young Peoples DTS - Respond.

I heard this message recently...In October I was at a youth conference in the States and something that one of the speakers shared really impacted me. He stated that "we are at a violent enough time in history that a violent response is necessary"... Ok.. wait wait wait.. he's not at all talking about physical violence or war or associated fears..... What he was challenging the room of Christian youth with was that there are so many challenges and opposition to the Christian faith that we need to be serious about what we believe and how we live that out.

The speaker was directing us to throw off mediocrity, passivity, tolerance.... detox ourselves of different worldviews we may have taken on... and just get out there and live for Jesus. What is our take on the world right now? War zones, election results, change, economic fears...... But what is our response? This is not a time to pull back.. and sit and watch. Its a time to get active and pursue Jesus. A time as young people to live for something different than what the world is used to. Its about taking a risk, giving it a go, stepping out of our familiar surroundings..... and trusting the Lord for major impact in the nations.

Christ in and through you is the answer, the solution, the response. We are called to do good deeds but not just to be humanitarians... we are called to know the truth but not just to be academic.... Christianity is faith in action and the God who saved your life is worthy of a response.

The Young Peoples DTS gives you an opportunity to respond - its a time committed to training, discipling, equipping you to know Jesus more in your personal life and to take that out into the world. 3 months here in Perth committed to knowing God and having our lives transformed into His likeness... and then 3 months flying off into the world... Asia? Africa? Middle East? Australia? ... to share salvation with people. This school has a special focus on mobilising young people to impact their generation and youth culture throughout the world.

January is a pretty sweet time to be in Perth as well... Summer will be here. Already this week its heating up... beach adventures are on the way. If you are getting ready for the big chill in North America or Europe... there's no better time to be headed to Aus. This pic actually was taken last month in Canada.. my first official Fall/Autumn season where the leaves actually change colour and fall.

Just get in touch with us here if you would like more info - we would love to hear from you.

info@ywamperth.org.au

+ 61 8 9 328 5321

The base staff will be away 9-14 November on a Staff Retreat so all emails and phone calls will be returned straight after this time.

Check-ups, Classes & Home Visits, Oh My!

Birth Attendant School finds joy in J-cityIt's just not in us to sit still. So despite having lectures, assessments (we call them FUNssesments) and more vocabulary to learn (this is our second lecture phase) we've also asked G 0 d to graciously fill our days with friendships, teaching opportunities and opportunities to share His love in practical ways. Being a good and loving G 0 d he has of course granted this request. Our days have been brimming with ante natal check-ups, newborn assessments, women's classes and friends to visit and share with through the hot afternoons.

All of the students have had opportunity to complete an antenatal check-up with a woman. The final step in a check-up is to feel for the baby's position and to listen for it's heartbeat. In several cases when the heartbeat was first heard through the doppler speaker it was the first time that the mother had had the joy of hearing the sound of the new life growing inside of her. This is a beautiful moment to share with someone and we are grateful to G 0 d that He allows us to share his love in this practical fashion.

We also run women's classes in several slum communities. One of the topics that we have had the joy of sharing with the women is the female reproductive system. Some of the women in our classes are in their 60's and this is the first time that anyone has explained their bodies to them. They are fascinated, excited, eager to ask questions and to share with friends. It is a simple teaching but it is one that shows them that not only do we care about and value them but so does the G 0 d that we serve and he loves them enough to send us.

In case you were not sure. We are loving a time in this city and all the things that G 0 d has for us here.

If you want to join us next year please email bas@ywamperth.org.au

Can it already be week 5?

A glimpse into the FCM...Believe it or not, we're already at the end of week 5 of this year's FCM! We began the school at the beginning of October with 8 students and 3 staff. Together we represent 9 or so different nations and many different dreams, visions and calls that we're all in the process of responding to.
Since coming together 5 weeks ago, we've had the amazing opportunity to get to know each other pretty well. We've had some pretty fun bonding times at base events, at the car wash and even in class! Together, we've been learning about different issues that affect individuals, families and communities in the world today and how God can redeem each of their situations into something that can reflect His glory. As we've studied together, talked together and prayed together we've already been able to see lots of healing and change come to our own individual lives. This, in turn, gives us each so much freedom and authority to "Go out into all the world" to see other's lives changed and healed as well. That the lost would be found and the found may be whole... THIS is what we so desire!
It's so exciting to see all that God has done in the last 5 weeks and we can't wait to see what else is to come as we continue through the next half of our lecture phase. It is truly an exciting time!

100 Clinics

Simple Health Care Seminar in AsiaA small team of 5 of us recently completed a 3 week 'Simple Health Care Teaching' seminar in Asia. We were told to expect 8 students in our seminar. On the first day, 24 turned up, but the merely curious quickly disappeared and we were left with 10-12 on most days. A core group of 8-10 attended faithfully for the whole time.

Illustrated booklets and posters, produced in Perth before we left, gave the basic information contained in each teaching. Topics covered were: basic hygiene, coughs and colds, fever reduction, diarrhoea and dehydration, breast feeding, weaning foods and charting growth. As literacy levels varied, it was a challenge to present the material in a way, and at a pace, that enabled all to learn.

However, the students entered into the teaching wholeheartedly and especially loved making up, and performing, songs to help themselves to remember key concepts. Competing in teams to answer questions was greeted enthusiastically and the competitive spirit was much in evidence. They also enjoyed the dramas we used to illustrate teaching points.

It was a thrill to see the confidence of the students grow as the seminar progressed. They were excited to have the opportunity to learn, as many of them had received little education. One woman, conscious of her lack of education, told us that she saw this as a chance to learn something that would enable her to contribute to her community.

In the second week, our students held two teaching sessions for the other women in the village. It was encouraging seeing them passing on what they had learnt - and also using the teaching methods we had given them.

It is exciting to be part of the birth of a vision for this community. The goal is for the women to set up and run a Mother and Child Health Clinic providing baby weighing services and giving advice about health and nutrition. Meetings with the chiefs of the community were very positive, and they were enthusiastic about seeing a clinic established. Several of the women who attended the seminar were also keen to be involved.

On the final night, the students held a party for us. They wanted to give us something but none of them had any money, so they wrote and sang a song for us. It was, they said, 'from the heart'. A repeated refrain was 'Terima kasih guruku' (Thank you teachers).

this past week in J-city..
"Last Saturday some of my friends and I went to the slum near by a railroad. We met up with the leader of the slum, and as usual he led us to people that are sick to pray for them.

One of the first houses that we went to, we met a man lying on his bed. When I heard about his situation my heart just broke for him. He'd had tuberculosis for two years and his life had been since then just laying in that bed. He had also stopped taking his medicine. This poor man looked like he was in his eighties, but was in reality only in his early fifties. He was so skinny and had apparently not been eating for a month and was just laying there to die.

We prayed for him and he was completely healed!! Thanks to God! We wept together, praised together and celebrated together with him." - Connie, Birth Attendant School team member

"We went to a slum right beside a graveyard and there was a 50 year old man sitting in his small house. He pointed at his foot, which had this enormous scar on the top of his foot and near the ankle and asked us to come over and do something for his foot. I told him that I couldn't give him any medicine, but that I could offer him something better than medicine, so I shared the Gospel and then I asked him if he wanted to accept Jesus into his life and acknowledge that He is the Son of God. He said yes, I asked Andre, one of my local friends, to lead the man out in a prayer of acceptance and acknowledgement of Jesus as Lord over his life. We asked him how he felt after we prayed over him, he said he felt even lighter, that a peace was upon his heart." - Josh, Sports Discipleship Training School

Why a COMPASSION DTS?

Is God interested in the pain in the world? Of course he is - not a tear is shed without his heart feeling grief. He has called us as His church to be His hands and heart - to show the world that He truly is a COMPASSIONATE GOD.

William Carey (pioneer missionary to India) saw widows being burnt alive on the funeral pyres of their deceased husbands in a ritual called Sati. He made it part of his mission to advocate of the abolishment of this practice in India. After being in India 40 years he had translated the Bible into 5 languages and portions in 29 others. Sati was outlawed, he had started 100 schools, one college, small loans bank for farmers and a horticultural society.
WE cannot underestimate the impact that one persons life can make.
Who will be God's compassion to:
- 40.3 million people living today with HIV/AIDS today
- The victims of sexual abuse
- Mothers who have no clean water to drink and watch their children die from preventable diseases
- Homeless people living on the streets of today's mighty cities
- 27million slaves in the world today

We will learn to know the character of God, explore the true condition of the world, uncover misconceptions about poverty, and learn how to use the power of the Holy Spirit. If you've ever considered that your faith in Christ and your concern for the poor and suffering go hand-in-hand, then reclaim the mission! Come and do the Compassion DTS with us here in Perth. Get your application forms in, there is more room for you...

12 Days to Go !!!!

Yeah you got it right; it's another 12 days and soon we will be sitting in the airplane buckled up whenever the chair lights are on; going off to Lagos Nigeria.

We had some amazing things happening to us over the last few weeks; both Island Breeze and us WFN. Trusting God for $61.380,- as a team.
As we were praying our little hearts out over the weeks; praying to get a heart for the Nigerians; see release happen in our finances and praying for greater courage to come over our lives. God answered all of our prayers.

God was not only working corporately in us but individually as well.
Few things He spoke with us about were: If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move.
We are His super heroes who He wants to use MIGHTILY and to be people who lead out by the spirit.

So you can definitely say that He speaking a lot with us about our faith in Him.
And in the meantime He is bringing us in situations where we can practically apply them.

And the release came; one evening while we were having Friday Night Meeting an offering took place for us and we saw $ 20.000 dollars coming in.
I mean come on that needs to be God; as normally a normal offer would only be around a $1000 dollars.

Beforehand we have been praying for days and days and days for our finances but nothing really happened. But God kept on encouraging us to keep on asking Him for the release and being in a place of great intimacy with Him. A picture that we as WFN received was us holding tight to a huge gate and shaking it till we would see the release.

We want to thank everyone who is supporting us; championing us; it means a lot !!!
For this week we will keep on practicing our dances; seeking God for more strategy and prepare ourselves for our 21 days in Nigeria.

Come with us to the nations...This pic is Rhonda, Beth and Merrick in Mongolia last year (07 YPDTS). What an adventure - flying and training and driving to this incredible nation... Working in a whole variety of opportunities, serving this nation and bringing Jesus to people. These 3 were reunited recently at Rhonda's wedding which the other 2 flew over for. They need to know that life is worth living. They need to know that God places value on their lives and wants them to encounter Him. They need to see a life lived for God. They stayed around and helped out intermittently until 1996 when they joined fulltime and managed the base for three years. During this time Shiree attended a school of Intercession, Worship & Spiritual Warfare.

In 1999 did the Principles in Child & Youth Ministry (PCYM) school and have been running a King Kids ministry in Adelaide since. In 2003 they did a Leadership Training School to further equip them in leadership and in ministry development. As part of the Kings Kids ministry they run the PCYM each year in Adelaide. Their experience and skill in the area of children and youth ministry is well known through YWAM in Australia.

Shiree and Ray also have four children from 8 yrs to 17yrs old.

During the first week of this year's school, Shiree will help us explore the way God established for children to grow and develop emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We will consider how specific building blocks were designed by God to be put in place as part of that process and the how the lack of fulfilment of these effect us first as children but then later as adults. In this way we will be better equipped to address areas of difficulty in people's lives that result from growing up in an imperfect world and to draw on the love and power of God in brining healing and completion in these aspects.

January Young Peoples DTS - be a part of the crew!

Cheaper than ever for Americans... so I expect to see you here!!! But does DTS work? That's my question....Currently I am conducting a world wide survey on the effectiveness of DTS.... no, not really... but I'm picking up opinions and perspectives everywhere I travel. I have been visiting past YP students over the last few weeks all over the world - in the nation of Pyramids, Norway, Denmark, Canada and the US.... attending some weddings, a conference and just seeing as many mates as possible.

This week I was staying with my mate the week before he got married. Its been a few years since we saw each other last so there were a couple late nights talking it up about our experiences. All the old stories came out and he started to share a lot about 1 particular week of his DTS.... Just plainly set out how that specific week and application time in class was 'life changing'..... could have quoted him in our advertisements... but for me it was such a highlight of my travels. I remember the day clearly and its so sweet to hear that 5 years later he counts that experience and resulting knowledge of God as foundational in his life. Its been so good to catch up with all the crew from past DTS and see everything that God has done in and through their lives over the past years. God is being glorified through their lives... the reason why we do what we do in DTS.

I would love for you to have the opportunity to experience DTS. It may be rapid, 180 degree change for you in your life... great!... it may be more a continued building onto an already solid foundation in God that you already have.... great!... it could be putting it all into action for the first time out in the nations... great!... it could be personal vision in your life with God... great!!...... new experiences, hearing the voice of God, adventuring into the nations with incredible new mates from all over the world.

This pic.. is actually a collection of YP 06. 07 and 08 students who I got to meet up at a recent conference in Oregon. In several cities that I have gone through I have had the opportunity to connect past students together who will know continue to meet up and support each other while at school or working... so good! In one city a crew is still meeting up at least once a week and doing a lot of local community outreach... thats it.... so stoked about that. Its not just for the 6 months that you are with us. Its about getting values and vision in our lives that continue to direct and lead us in God.

Yes the economy is a bit uncertain right now. But hey that American dollar is looking pretty good against the Aussie one!!! Awesome time for Americans to come to Aus... This is a time in the nations when God has a lot of opportunity to do a lot of stuff.... He is certain and secure and wants us to trust Him with every part of our lives.

So I am taking so much in and it just gets me more excited for the YP 09. I have already met around 10 students coming for the school and they are all so stoked to come to Perth ..... and are all quality amazing people.

Definitely some ideas stirring for outreach already... but nothing to confirm yet. Its always the big question! There will be a range of choices involving different regions in the world... we go to Asia and Africa a lot.. and also love our home nation of Aus.. so they could all feature. More to follow soon on that....

Get in touch with us here if you want more info-

info@ywamperth.org.au

+61 8 9 328 5321 and ask for Registrar Enquiries.. and you will be set.

Life changing!

As the world tries to persuade people to follow it's standard, our life should stand in stark contrast as an example of righteous person. Here is a testimony from our first Compassion DTS student this year. God has done so much in my life. Before I came to Perth, I knew God, but so much of my past was holding me back from a true relationship with him. I felt so ashamed of what I'd done, I was carrying around a huge backpack full of bricks for so many years, It was effecting my relationship with my family, my friends and everyone I talked to. After a week of learning about repentance and forgiveness God spoke to me about letting go of my past, turning from living for myself and start a new life with him. I felt like chains were being released from my hands and feet. I felt free and forgiven and I could feel God's love so intimately. I could see his tears of joy, his mercy and grace. He showed me that I no longer need to be afraid, that he is my daddy in heaven and he loves me."
News from the Regions

The final wave of teams has begun to descend on J-city! 19 teams with over 150 people will be ministering in the city over the next three months.

Over the past three waves we have seen almost 800 salvations and over 360 healings. The gospel has been shared with over 10,000 and 12,600 have been prayed for. Over 25,600 people have received teaching from our teams and visiting seminar speakers. God has brought churches together in unity, and many slums are in the process of being adopted by local churches. The church of J-city is seeing that God can bring transformation through them; and they are continuing to step past the obstacles to see the Kingdom of God come.

We believe that as transformation takes place in Jcity - the rest of Indonesia will follow. Please join with us in prayer that in this final wave we will see multiplication of what has already taken place. For information on joining with us in J-city please email info@megacities.org.au

NORTH:

"We were in a slum and had just finished having a time of worship and went off prayer walking. We met a man who had trouble with his leg muscles so we offered to pray for him. He was very keen and took us back to his house. We met his wife who was pregnant and also sick; and he wanted us to pray for her too. She had been to a Shaman to get healing but had only been worse since then. They had never heard about the full story of Jesus so I began back at creation.

While I was sharing with these two, the husband and wife who lived next door came in. We were able to share the whole Gospel to 5 people and then prayed for the first couple.

The other couple stayed and when we were done they asked us to pray for his hernia, so we went next door into their house. After a bit of a chat the lady said she wanted to accept Jesus. The man was teary, but the woman just cried and cried, she ended up face down on the floor, weeping so much there was actually a puddle of tears."
- Pam, Discipleship Training School team leader

SOUTH:

"A man at one of the slums told us about how God touched him. He was coughing blood and couldn't eat but after the team prayed for him, he was healed! He's no longer coughing blood, can eat properly and has even gained some weight. That's a good news. Now he totally believes in Jesus because he knows for sure that it was Jesus who brought healing to his body." - Local who has been working with our teams

EAST:

" We went into a slum with a local friend and ministered to large crowds of children. I had brought a guitar, and sang some Christian songs to 30 to 40 children, and then taught them some English. They then invited me to play soccer with them on a small concrete pitch, so while I played with around 30 kids, with perhaps another 60 or so people watching. One of our team used the opportunity to speak to another 30 children about the gospel. He shared about how we were created with pure hearts, but sin has closed our hearts to God, but the solution is provided in Jesus Christ - he taught 15 to 20 children to tear up pieces of paper to symbolize this, and each held a paper Cross at the end." - Joel - Sports Discpleship Training School

WEST:

"We have been going into the slum area across the river from a prostitution area, it is full of families who are living under the highway bridge. We have been there 3 or 4 times now and it has been amazingly open. We have been able to pray for a lot of people. We were approached by a woman who wanted us to come and pray for a sick elderly lady. We went over to the house and prayed for the lady. We were also able to share openly with a few of the ladies that were around. One of the them was 105 years old, very very weak and couldn't really talk well or move around much. One of our local friends we had brought with us shared the full gospel with the 105 year old lady. After sharing with her, she then wanted to accept Christ as her savior and he led her in prayer!" - Dustin, Discipleship Training School team leader

CENTRAL:

"There is a beautiful park that we visited where many local musicians meet to play and practice and teach and eat and laugh together. We were able to connect with them and start building relationships. Another night in the same park we joined with another team and had a time of worship and prayer. Fired up by God's presence we went out and shared with more locals and a girl rededicated her life to God. One of our team shared the gospel with a young man selling food from a stand, they learned that this man had been prayed for by a previous team. Since being prayed for, his business and income has flourished. Through this he gave his life to God that night." - Sabo, School of Music in Missions team leader

the adventure is getting thereSeeing the adventure from God's eyes is something that takes a life time to learn but its found in moments of surrender.
This morning in worship on the base we were declaring through prayer and singing who God is and who we know Him to be. It was a powerful time. I was caught up in just lifting Him high and praising Him or being King and Lord of my life. It is so evident when you begin to see life from God's perspective that God truly notice's the smallest things where we might pass by.
It seems like another ordinary day of traveling, God knows exactly what we need. Check out the new Testimony by Kelly. It could have been so easily missed but having God's heart allows for each of us to see more of what God see and ultimately what he wants us to see.
Life is full of surprises but if we are all His and willing to go and do whatever He asks then life is an Adventure.
Today I am grateful for the Adventure that God has me on.
Want your life to count?Want to be part of something much bigger than just your own life? That's the invitation of God.... to join with Him in bringing the message of His love and truth to this generation. And that is what the YPDTS is all about. Investing your life into God's plans which are of eternal significance. We are looking for any.. for all... 17-25 year olds who are over living a self absorbed lifestyle, who want to give their life to something greater, who are serious about following this Jesus. Not just fancy words and appearances.... but the real thing... commitment, hardline decisions, change..... and with it.. transformation and adventure in the nations. It's an opportunity to get serious... to put it all on the line... and pursue Him.

Are you wanting more than what your life feels like right now?

The YPDTS has all the same core content as any DTS ..... and personally I am pretty stoked on the now... on what God is setting up fresh for this school... there are lots of ideas cranking in my heart and head for this school..... to increase the effectiveness of what we are doing .. both in our own lives as well as out there in the nations. Prayer... for example. I have recently been through IHOP (International House of Prayer) in the States.. and just today was listening to a guy speaking on the rapidly growing international youth prayer movement.. young people everywhere are getting together.. and praying.. and things are happening. God is responding.... And yet so many of us may struggle with prayer.. the purpose.. or the how to's... but actually its a place of incredible creativity with God... He wants to burn a fire in us for prayer.. cos He wants His power and His presence to accompany everything we do out there. There's nothing boring about God changing nations in response to your prayers.

The power and presence of God. It transforms our lives.

Outreach for the YPDTS will be definitely directed at impacting nations... as well as impacting youth culture. Youth are looking for something to live for.... what is the message that you will bring them? What do you see..... yes... there are 'issues'.. many many.... but see the potential.. see the vision of God for their lives.. We are responsible for them... I am, you are.. to bring them a message of salvation and hope.. and new life.

Right now I am in Portland, Oregon.... a big crew of past YP students have gathered at a conference run by one of our regular YP speakers. It has been incredible to see everyone again... to hear the stories.. of how God is continuing to use them... at work, at school, with their friends and family... So encouraging to hear what they have been doing since DTS.. and to see the foundation that has been built in their lives for what God wants to use them for.

God is active on the face of the earth today. Don't just listen to other peoples stories.. don't just read about them..... go out and create your own with God.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested in the YPDTS....

info@ywamperth.org.au

+61 8 9 328 5321

Come and join us for the Compassion DTS 2009

God's timing is always perfect. He knows you and HE is fully aware of your circumstances. I believe that there is little we cannot do when we choose to create with God by thinking His thoughts, hearing His voice and doing his works. Bellow is a powerful testimony from our first Compassion DTS student this year:

Another way we really experienced God's love and power was through our hospital prayer times. One day, the man who organizes many of our activities felt lead to go to a specific hospital. When he arrived, he met a man there whose son was dying of HIV-related complications. The son had been a drug addict for ten years and it was the fourth time he had been in the hospital (before he had gone for overdoses and strokes). The father had said last time (#3) that he wanted his son to die, because he was just a problem to the family, a bane to his mother, and had sold all their possessions once for drug money. However, his mother loved him and made sure he was taken care of each time he was admitted to the hospital. This is where the story gets interesting, as this time (#4) the doctors had told the father that Agi (the son), was going to die and refused to give him further care. This news was accompanied with a wake up call to the father by God, who told him that Jesus was his son's only hope, and if he believed, the son would be healed.
So being prompted to this story, three of us went to pray for the son. When we arrived, the son was very weak and visibly near death, but as we prayed, some of his strength was restored and he even stood up during the prayer! The prayer time also lead to a time of repentance and reconciliation between the father and son, and both the father and the son repented and accepted salvation. Two days later, the son was well enough to go home. His family came and visited us, and we prayed with them, and the relationship between him and his mother was also restored at our house. This was such a strong testimony to God's restoring love, his movement today through prayer, and the power of the obedience to God's direction (by our Indonesian friend). The following week we went to pray for healing for a man with dengue fever, and had the opportunity to see him come to salvation as well. We are blessed to be experiencing this and being able to say first hand at how amazing He is. Scott - COMDTS'08

This is what the Compassion DTS all about. God wants to reach the world through each of us, allowing us to work with Him as His hands, feet and voice to the nations. He will equip you with everything you need to do this. So let's stand up, listen for His voice, step out and obey Him. Time is running out to get your applications in, we have less than 3 months to go! If you are thinking about coming then the time to Apply for the school is NOW!!! We'd love to have you here.

Summer is here today

A relieving break from the chill of winterSummer doesn't offically start for another month and half but I would never have thought so cause of todays weather. Its boardshorts and teeshirt all day as the high for the day is expected to reach 30 degree's celcius which of course in Fahrenheit is 86 degree's. For us surfers it means another thing. The swell will be less consistent and lacking in the size we want but for us fortunate few, at Trigg Point in Perth there will be waves to be had. Last night we made the attempt to catch a few after dinner and before dark. We had a few waves but still a bit late in getting there. Alternatively, pray for those in California being evacuated due the the hot weather, santa anna winds and big fires.

Well...
Surfers DTS preparations are coming along with a great lineup of speakers. Actually working on getting a world renonwed professional surfer to come and speak as well as looking at some pretty epic outreach possiblities with some increidble opportunity to pioneer and explore some uncommon surf destinations. Will see how things work out.
This upcoming DTS is bound to be full of some good times and adventures where you never know what will happen next. Also incredible times of getting passionate about living all out for God. God is God and we are not! So we need to let God be god and have countrol over all our lives, it can be scary at times but comforting to know that God has got our back as we would go into the most intense and potentially challenging situations we know that we are always better off going anywhere with God on our side leading the way.

Ask about the the upcoming surfers dts at info@ywamperth.org.au

We had a really good time hanging out playing games and sharing with the youth about hearing the voice of God.

We've also been having some great times in lectures with Tom Hallas speaking this week. Tom has got the gray matter thinking with some tough questions and fresh views on the cross and why Jesus died.

All in all it has been a great start to the next nine months and I can see that the Lord is going to do some awesome things in and through this school.

The next YMT starts in 340 ish days so sign up quick

School of Worship 2008 Finishes

With a week of report back and debriefing the SOW 08 came to a close. The students and staff returned safely from their 11-week outreach to spend a week reporting back and hanging out. It was incredible to hear the stories of what God did through the team.

They told stories of how they would go to an area known for prostitution and worship God on the streets. Later the owners of the brothels testified that business was always down when our team was around. They also were able to lead several people to the Lord as well, some of them prostitutes and transvestites.

As we processed the six months of the school it became clear that when God is worshipped, things change. It's not always as simple as 1 +1 = 2, but God steadily brings transformation as we persevere.

Now the students have gone in different directions, some staying here on staff, some will join with other YWAM works and still others will pursue God with their local churches.

This was the 15th SOW we've run here in Perth and it certainly was one of the best!
January Young Peoples DTS - Launch...

Take the risk... God is who He says He is and you qualify to be a part of what He is doing in the nations.... Don't hold back. Now is the time that God is looking for a generation of young people who will know Him, love Him, respond to Him and go out into the nations. The word that He is continually reminding me of is 'opportunity'. There is room for you in His purposes. Life is opportunity.. your relationship with Him is opportunity.... and I want to throw out the idea that DTS is an opportunity.. a time and a place to meet with God, to allow Him to search and transform our lives, a place of new beginnings, a place of fresh vision, a time of dreaming for the future, and a time of action... of going out with Him and seeing Him change lives and nations.

This sweet pic is definitely not of myself... but is of my good mate Ben .. on a free day during his YPDTS outreach. Anything can happen on outreach....

Currently I am visiting friends in the States... and hearing a lot about the current financial situation. There is a lot of uncertainty existing in the world right now... but its an opportunity for us to know God.. to hear Him, to see what He is doing... to trust Him more, to rely on Him more. He is greater than our practical circumstances and is committed to fulfill His plans.

Get us all together and it can get a bit messy... the enthusiasm and spontaneity of youth... the new experiences, the things we are great at, the things we make mistakes in.... but thats what its all about - learning, taking a risk, getting things right in our lives, responding to Him and then being people of action - express yourself, make your contribution, lead us out in what He is up to. God is doing something in the nations... take a risk and follow Him there. Don't push aside any lingering hopes to be involved in something like this! Let Him stir them up.

A huge part of the vision of YWAM Perth is youth.... so what could be more appropriate then a youth focused DTS? The idea is to get together a crew of young people from all over the world... to receive great teaching, to respond actively to the challenges presented, to share together, to hear God... and then to go..... its about applying what we are learning. Both in the classroom, in our daily lives... and then in the nations we go to on outreach. And outreach this year will be a mix..... we'll have everything in there..... overseas, culture, evangelism, food, discipleship, youth ministry, community development, travel, mercy ministry, dance (if you got the moves....), music, art, photography, sport..... no limitations.... it will be shaped as we come together as a group.

Currently I am travelling the world - visiting many past YPDTS students. It has been one of the highlights of my life. To see these guys 1 or 2 or 6 years down the track from their DTS.... to see the foundation laid through their responses to God... to see the things they are now involved in.. the missions trips they have now led, the role they have in international prayer movements, the effect they have in their college, their role in the workplace..... and the way they value their time spent on DTS. It inspires me to see their lives. And in my heart there is the assurance that it works. That their openess and willingness and responses to the Lord have led them into an incredible life that is still an adventure of faith every day. I love it.

Today I was driving with my mate to his church... 3 hours west of Minneapolis.... (that is definitely way out in the countryside... just near South Dakota border in USA...)... I knew his church was the home church for a missionary couple from YWAM Hawaii.... international leaders who do a lot of travelling. On the way there I joked about how funny it would be if they were there as 1 of them has spoken on the YPDTS in the past and is a lady who I respect so much and learn from every time she speaks. Get into church, open the news sheet "Today - Jim and Judy Orred will be sharing with us"...... the 1 Sunday I came to church, 3 hours from the nearest big city is the 1 Sunday they were flying through on their way from Hawaii to Europe and South Africa. The Lord loves to bring people together. And the message this morning from Judy was a challenge to see what God is up to, to recognise the giftings He has placed in our lives... in effect to be responsible with the opportunities that He gives us. The same idea that has already been stirring in my heart. That's God. For me - an incredible day...

All that to say we would love to have you with us on the January YPDTS..... and that the Lord continues to amaze and surprise me.

Just get in touch - info@ywamperth.org.au

+ 61 8 9 328 5321 (Registrar)

We have had a great week settling into the base and have started with some incredible classes looking at the Character of God and how we can live out the truth of who He is in our ministry and work. We are also looking at the biblical foundations in medicine, seeking God for a right perspective on medical perspective so that we can areally carry His authority in what we do.

We have been really honoured to have David Hamilton speak to us this week ( one of the amazing teachers and influential leaders of our mission)and he has really challenged us to not only think about our own walk with God but also to dream big dreams with God in terms of how He wants the profession to look, and how we can best honour Him in healthcare.

The next school starts October 2009 and requires a medical degree and successful completion of a Discipleship Training School.
HE IS WORTHY!

The Cost! Becoming Easier..Fresh word on the street... GOD IS WORTHY!!!
God is truly worthy of our whole lives. He deserves our everything. Having been in hours of teaching and application times this is something I am continually blown away by. When you begin to unlock the revelation of just how worth God is, then it becomes clear that the reality of laying down our whole lives to follow, love and serve Him is so worth it!
And its then after pursuing God that I have come to say that I wouldn't trade anything else in this world for being able to serve Him. Every day I get to enjoy living in this incredible community called YWAM Perth, serving alongside some of the most wholehearted, passionate, fun people i know doing what I love and being given oportunity to grow and be trained in the love, knowledge, wisdom and understanding of God.
I came here with a heart after God wanting to serve Him but I love that this is the kinda place and DTS is the kind of tool that can help unlock the desires and dreams He has placeed within us. All I wanna do is share more about Him and yes have a little fun along the way because HE IS WORTHY!

It is not always an easy thing to step out and leave farmiliar behind but thats why I say it is becoming easier because the eternal value of salvation becomes more real every day.

So I challenge you today to pray, ask God if you are to come and do the Surfers DTS and be open to allowing God to show you just how worthy He is. Looking forward to having you!

YOUNG PEOPLES DTS - JANUARY!!

Same message... different expression...YP is all about innovation.... lets take the message of Jesus out to the nations ... evangelism, discipleship, breakers, musos, photos, journos, sports, children workers, health care workers, taggers.. oops... But yeah this little piece is in Stavanger in Norway... with Anna (YP 05) striking the pose. Right now I am on a quick world trip taking in a few weddings as well as visiting a whole heap of past YP students. It has been incredible to meet up with them and hear their stories.

The best thing of the last 2 weeks has been seeing students from past YPDTS and hearing what they have been up to.... work, study, family.. yes... but also taking with them the message of nations and missions... taking out short term trips, executive assistants at IHOP in Kansas City, leading discussion forums at churches, inspiring their friends to go out. My conclusion.... its all worth it. For me to see these guys going on with their relationship with God and their purpose.... making it happen.

DTS is all about getting together with a crew of like minded people.... hearing God, having our lives transformed... going out into the nations and investing in the nations... but also getting vision for the rest of your life. If it was just for 6 months then it wouldn't be worth it.. you would be wasting your money... but my heart and vision is that during this time God will ignite and spark something in your life that you will always believe and carry with you. Its a huge 6 months but of lifelong and eternal significance. Another highlight has been visiting friends from outreach.. continuing the investment.

In Denmark I met up with 5 Danes who are coming for the YP next year... hahahah they are amazing, you will love spending 6 months with them!!!

YP... why young people? Because we believe in the potential of young people to change the world... and we also want to see you impact this generation... both overseas and in Australia. Thats what our outreach will involve - both overseas components of the adventure, the culture, evangelism, introducing Jesus to people who have never heard of Him before... using whatever you have to bring the message.... and then coming back and impacting this nation... Aussie youth are the best.... open, raw, what you see is what you get, loving life... and we have open access to high schools to run seminars, teach on lifestyle issues, put on skate comps, run youth groups, inspire them on missions...

You can come. You don't have to have a degree in theology or have everything figured out... take 6 months of your life and invest it in your relationship with God.. maybe you are firing right now, loving God and life.. maybe life is full of challenges, maybe you are ready to give up on the whole deal.... wherever you may be at I would love for you to be on the DTS... its all about just getting real about life.... about who God is.. .about what it means to live it out... getting vision and inspired on what He sets out before you.....

So yes.. right now I am in Kansas City with my mates... loving life.. catching up.... But if you are interested in the school just get in touch with Abby at -

info@ywamperth.org.au

and then Abby and also Cory will be in touch with you about the school...

Stoked on God and life.

Discipleship is more than equipping head knowledge and memorizing scripture verses. It is to give Jesus access to your life so He will live His life through you.

So let me tell you a bit about the Compassion DTS and what it's all about. It is exciting, fantastic and life changing! It is six months of getting to know God more and therefore enabling us to make Him truly known in our world.

But what is so unique about our school as opposed to regular DTS?
On top of all the fun of regular DTS, we also will provide opportunities to do many different types of hands on mercy ministry in Perth during the lecture phase. We also cover basic skills that can be used on the field in the areas of health care, community development, and basic teaching. These skills are taught in order to provide an opportunity for open doors in communities around the world to share the Gospel.

You do not need to have any medical experience or community development skills, just have a desire to know Jesus more, become more like Him, and want to reach out a hand to those around us like Jesus did. You will be with people that love God and are growing in loving Him, more providing a wonderful environment to challenge yourself and step up in your own relationship with Him.

God wants to reveal Himself to those around you by working mightily through you. He wants your family, friends and nations to see Christ in you each day. God wants to express His love and compassion through your life. So why not?

Searching for Something

Discovering youWe are all searching for things like answers, peace, purpose, direction and understanding. For most of us surfers we are searching for a bigger, better, longer wave with a deeper more hollow barrel than we have ridden before and in most cases we will go out of our way and sleep whereever to wake up in the morning and find that wave breaking right in front of our eyes. If you have been surfing a while too you know there are always those few priceless waves you can't forget about but you only manage to stumble one a few times a year. From the deapth and heart of why we are searching The Surfers DTS wants to use that hunger, desire and keen sense for adventure that is found in almost any surfer to train, equip and mobilize them with the power of God and the Gospel in hand to go to the nations. I belive surfers are just the type of people who are willing to do what it takes and go where few would go.

The next Surfers DTS runs from April 5th until September 19th, a six month school in total. The first three months is speant in YWAM Perth, Western Australia doing whats called Lecture Phase. It is 12 weeks of teaching on 12 in depth topics deeply founded on the word of God and who God says He is. Through that crucial foundation we then get ready for 10 weeks of outreach to a numerous variety of places typically focusing on countries surrounding the Indian Ocean like Indonesia. In the past we have been to South Africa, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Japan but dont limit it to that cause God's heart is for all People and Nations to hear and know Him.

Following DTS you are also welcome to continue training in YWAM however you would like. Here in Perth we also offer schools such as Foundations for Community Development, School of Frontier Missions, Primary Healthcare School, Community Counseling School, School of Music in Missions and many more. We want to provide a place for you to be fully released in all that God calls you to. And if you are simply unsure of what that is than choosing to serve God with us on staff is a sure way do discover you're passions, giftings and talents and how they can be best used in bringing God's Kingdom.

For more info check out www.ywamperth.org.au and www.ywamperth.org.au/surf

Artreach Outreach Opportunity

Calling all visual artists and photographers..Would you like to join a team of visual artists and photographers seeking to mobilize, empower and network between local and international artists to impact the city of Jakarta, and through it the nation of Indonesia for Christ?

From November 17th until December 4th Artreach will be travelling from Perth to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. There they will be joined by other artists, both international and local to encourage local artists to use their gifting for God's glory within their nation, promote unity amongst artists and bring healing to disadvantaged children through art.

The theme of this years outreach to Jakarta is "Living Waters". We are asking those who would like to be involved to produce art pieces along this theme, for an exhibition to be held in the city.

We encourage prayer and God's guidance as the basis for all that we do as a team:

Isaiah 49:8-9 says

This is what the LORD says:
"At just the right time, I will respond to you.[a]
On the day of salvation I will help you.
I will protect you and give you to the people
as my covenant with them.
Through you I will reestablish the land of Israel
and assign it to its own people again.
I will say to the prisoners, 'Come out in freedom,'
and to those in darkness, 'Come into the light.'
They will be my sheep, grazing in green pastures
and on hills that were previously bare."

If you have a heart for the arts, and seeing them used to bring transformations to nations we invite you to join us this November! Email info@ywamperth.org.au for more information and application forms.

"During the exhibition I was able to talk to two young men who attended. We started to talk, but the conversation wasn't going very far. They were trying to convince me that their religion is the way to go. I was thinking it was better to end the conversation, when one of the young men made the comment that the exhibited art was just pictures. I decided to use this comment to explain the deeper meaning of the art piece and the life principle that we can take away from it. For the first time in this conversation I was able to share without being interrupted and could talk about the hope that we have in Jesus. We explained art pieces to them for about one hour and didn't hold back that Jesus is the One that gives us true life and hope."
- Anne-Kristen, Artreach, Cairo

God's shown up from day 1, he's brought transformation in and through the lives of both staff and students. He's spoken and led, he's brought revelation and freedom, he's provided abundantly and done miracles. It's been incredible!

Lecture phase was fantastic. Each week's speaker challenged and encouraged us in unique ways. Many of them commented on the leadership potential of the students. It was exciting to draw closer to God together, to experience the transforming power of his truth in our lives. The needs of the nations were a major theme from the beginning with missions woven throughout the weekly topics. We had lots of opportunities to share with others here in the city of Perth about the love of Christ. It was also just a lot of fun! Crazy base events, exploring the city, late night conversations, spontaneous hospitality, it was great.

We had an amazing time in JCity, incredible opportunities, deep relationships, miracles, salvation. Just read the "news" from the last few months to get a taste of what it was like. A big highlight from our time on outreach was being able to create a promotional video encouraging local churches to adopt slums. There are many very needy areas in the city and we wanted to inspire believers with God's heart for these communities. Our aim was to encourage them that God wants to use them as his hands and feet. If we really want to see cities transformed that takes involvement and commitment on our part as the Body. It was exciting to be able to draw upon the gifts and passions of those on the team to create something that will have a lasting effect for mobilization.

We're really excited about the next MediaReach DTS April 2009! This year's pioneering school has been fantastic, full of creativity, flexibility and "let's try it." There's lot to draw from, build on, re-imagine and try out for next year. And you can be a part of it! We found this year that each student really contributes something unique to the flavor and flow of the school's creativity. A photographer and an arts festival manager come up with a very different film project than a graphic designer and a videographer! It's wonderful watching people learning to co-create with God and with one another.

So if you want to grow in deeper intimacy in your relationship with God, if you want to be equipped and inspired with how to reach people, if you want use your gifts in creative communication to glorify God, the MediaReach DTS 09 may be for you!
YPDTS - 3 MONTHS TO GO

That's right - get your applications in....Right now I am in Denmark.... visiting friends from the YP 06 and meeting a whole crew of people who are coming for the YP 09.

This pic is the 3 incredible Danes - Benjamin, Christian and Frederik... who I am staying with... on one of their many adventures in Europe..

Its great to meet people already who are coming down for the school and I can assure you that they are great, incredible Danes who you are going to love spending 6 months with. I am on a bit of a world trip going to some weddings of some of my best mates, attending a conference.. and just meeting up with probably 40 - 50 people who have done YP over the last few years. Its an incredible privliege to be able to meet up with old mates again and reminisce about our days together in Perth and the nations. It is also really encouraging to see the way they have continued on with their relationship with the Lord - continuing to grow in Him and influence their friends... having an impact in college, work.. and taking out missions teams of their own! Personally I am stoked to hear from them personally their understanding of what DTS was for them.... 2 or 3 years down the track.... as the leader of the school its been so sweet to hear their stories of what they can see from that time.

The Young Peoples DTS is all about getting a crew of .. well.... young people.. together from all over the world... investing in our relationship with God through great teaching, regular worship, personal application times, small group processing times.... its a time of 'discipleship'.... then we go out into the nations to make God known.... using your passions, your story... skills... plus learning a few new ones. You have a voice and a message and God wants to use that to change the life of an individual... of a willage... a city.. a nation... Your voice may be a message God gives you to speak.. it may be your guitar,,, it may be your paintbrush.. it may be your football.... it may be your skateboard.. it may be your love for helping the poor... it may be your love for teaching... your heart for children.. your healthcare skills... your construction skills.... your willingness to do anything at any time at any place in order that Jesus may be known.........

All that to say - we would love to have you with us for the January Young Peoples DTS. Its usually a pretty vibrant active school that pursues God intensely with all the variations and creativity of being 'yp' ... but also hits up the beach pretty regularly.. organises the most memorable dance parties... and forms friendships that last a lifetime. Even know seeing people I haven't seen for the last 2 or 3.. or even 6 years... it just feels like the same being with them.... there is an understanding and a connection there that we just fell back into so easily. God does something pretty special during the 6 months... and some of it you will realise as it happens.. and some of it just continues to surprise and amaze and bless you years later!

One of my stops was to a city that I went to 2 years ago on outreach with the YP. A good mate is studying a semester there at the international university so I caught up with her as well as meeting up with all my mates I made on the streets of the city a few years back. Some knew I was coming.. others I just turned up at their house or work. Its a city known for its pyramids and camels and river..... seriously had the best time hanging out with my muslim mates there.... But again it challenged me all over again to think of their world view.. the things that they grow up with believing to be true.... and it challenges, convicts and inspires me all at once to really think deeply about their lives and what my response should be..... A huge blessing for me has been to stay in touch with these guys who I just met one day with some of my team mates there... And thats my personal question - how do I bring Jesus to these guys? Makes me really dig in to clearly figure out what my purpose in the next few years should be all about.

Outreach for the YP is still being formed.... most likely there will be 4 or 5 options involving overseas and Australian components. Love being in the nations... in another culture... around people from a completely different world view... introducing Jesus to them.. serving them practically.... also love being in Aus - in High Schools teaching seminars on drug, alcohol, relationships, self harm... identity... all those things.. putting on youth events in the town.. working with the local youth group and churches... so expect a bit of a combo of out in the nations and focused youth ministry. You'll love it.....

I continue on from here to Canada and the States to visit a lot more of the YP crew from the past few years. While I am away Cory will be on the email keeping in touch with you....

If you want more info - info@ywamperth.org.au

More added to the megacities DTS crewHello to everyone who is wise and noble to read this article beyond title and description, well done!!!

I am happy to say that this news article is about good news, very good news in fact. We have two more added to the megacities DTS crew, what I mean is that Kayla Harvard and Sara Adams are now staffing the megacities DTS.

Kayla is originally from the small town of Podunk in Ontario, Canada. She staffed October DTS last year, was recently involved in a heart warming sign language dance, is down with the youth and has big curly hair, when I say big, I mean if she puts some effort in, there is some big hair...

And now for Sarah, she is from the town of Newcastle on the other side of Australia and joined staff with us here in Perth this year, God has just given her a strong word to be involved with our school and we are super stoked to have her. Sarah likes motorbikes, soccer (football for any Europeans) and did an Around the World DTS last year, wow, I think that's impressive.

We are really excited to have both these girls on the crew with and we are looking forward to getting to know eachother better and have have heaps of fun as we start out on this new adventure with Jesus, if you would like to join us there is still time, just get on it....peace.
