When words fail music speaks.
It was only a few months ago that I was with a Music DTS outreach team in a remote village tucked into the mountain range of Nepal. After trekking through various rivers and mountain terrain for almost seven hours we finally reached our location. On top of a mountain in a small white church building a small group of believers from the surrounding villages gathered to hear what we had to share.
In a matter of hours we were able to share the Gospel, talk about the unconditional love of God and express, in our own way, just how much He cares for the people of Nepal. We had a time of worship and seeing a group of people, who literally live off the land with no electricity, worship with everything they had was inspiring. Throughout the outreach we learned a few local Nepali Christian songs and were able to stand with these believers in the presence of God singing in their language. To worship for no other reason than because of God’s worthiness and holiness, in a place where people have hardly anything else, really changes you; it changed us.
It is little moments like this one where I look back and am reminded of God’s faithfulness to those that chose to follow him, and the opportunities that we have to “taste and see” his goodness. In 2 months time the Music DTS will start again. With a new excitement and new expectations of what God wants to do in our lives and the lives of those around us, I cannot wait to see what he has in store for us this year.
