BECOMING SOFT TOWARD THE TRUTH

The first time I met Tim, it was 2:00am and he was extremely drunk. He was banging on the door of the homeless shelter we were monitoring that night and he wanted to come in. Over the next 2 weeks he demonstrated that he was one of the leaders among the group of 30-35 homeless people. People responded and reacted to him and he strongly influenced the attitude of many people there. We did our drama one night and he thanked me afterwards. He said it was very moving and he could relate to it. As time went on, we continued to talk until one night. He had been temporarily banned form the night shelter because of his drinking and we met him again at a different feeding programme for the homeless where we were serving that night. I asked if we could pray for him and went on to pray for blessing, guidance and for God to reveal Himself to this Tim. The next time I saw him at the shelter, he approached me immediately and asked for prayer.
The steps he has taken over the 6 weeks we have been here have been significant enough for him to believe prayer works. So much that he publicly asked for prayer and even encourages others to ask for prayer as well. There is still much to be done in his life, but in less than 7 weeks he went from a jaded, aggressive, pessimistic man to a man who desires and believes in prayer.
