The PurposeMegacities focus ons a city of over one million people for a period of 12 months acting as a catalyst for city wide transformation. We do this through strong partnership between the local Body of Christ and international, multi-disciplined teams. Together, we work at a grassroots level to strengthen existing ministries and pioneer new works.
A CatalystA catalyst is a substance that lowers the energy needed for a reaction by forming a temporary association with the reacting substances. As a result, the rate of reaction accelerates.
We (the substance) hope to go to a city and work with the locals (the reacting substances) and see the seeds of transformation planted (the reaction).
Why Cities?Because they are where the people are, and God loves the people. (Jonah 4:11) As a strategy for seeing the Great Commission fulfilled and seeing all nations reached, we must reach the cities. Not only are the cities home to 50% of the worlds population, but they are also the centres of influence. Cities have resources that can be used in the rest of a nation, and have been established in such a way as to make it possible to reach many people groups in one place. All nations are influenced, and to a major extent led, by their cities.
