CO-CREATING WITH GOD

Emmy shares some things she's learned since joining the Media team in January 2012
My name is Emmy and Iíve worked in the media ministry in Youth With A Mission Perth since January 2012
Iíve learned that it is a place where you co-create with the Creator of the universe!
When I first worked with media as a work duty student on my Discipleship Training School, I had just graduated from university. My way of approaching a project was to have a research folder and then come up with as many ideas as possible, develop some of them further, etc. I constantly thought about what my leaders would want and what the clients like. However I missed out God in the whole process.
Here in media, we always have team times. It is bonding time where we talk about what we are working on, share ideas and pray for each other. And of course there is almost always coffee.
One day during our team time, Elli, one of our designers asked us to think about what it means to work with God. I could only think about how I want to work for God. I am more motivated when I know it for Godís glory; and everything I do becomes more meaningful. When we shared back our answers, I realised that God is so much more awesome than I thought. It's like working with the top designer of all times. Some said that working with God means that we can always get advice from Him, and since He knows everything, He would be the best adviser. I also felt that sometimes working with God means that things get done faster with less stress, because when we know what He wants us to do, then we know we can go ahead carry out His plan.
Now the first thing I do when I start a project is to pray, and really take time to wait on God. I note down the ideas that come to my mind, and then I follow His leading in implementing each step of the design process. I learnt that I donít have to stress over my ability, because freedom comes through Godís creativity. I love working with a team of people who encourage me by their love for God and I love being able to advertise God and to capture him working in our lives.
