January Quarter Begins

This week we welcomed many new students to Perth from all around the world as our January quarter schools begin!

This week marked the beginning of YWAM Perth’s January quarter schools! With great excitement, we welcomed 96 students from 21 different nations! For some this is the beginning of their YWAM journey; they are here to do a Discipleship Training School and spend 6 months growing in their relationship with God and making Him known in the nations. Others are continuing their training with specific schools of focus such as the School of Music in Missions, the Bible Core Course, the Leadership and Pioneering School or the Introduction to Primary Health Care School. But for all at this time there is a level of anticipation and excitement for all that God has in store over the next few months. There is a hope of seeing the promises of God come to pass, a desire to know more of who God is and a passion to serve God with all our hearts to see His will be done in the nations of the Earth.

On Tuesday we had our registration, or Rego, day where all of us here at YWAM Perth gather together to meet new students and get to know one another as well as the students being able to take care of various practical things related to their school such as choosing books or paying in their school fees. The students go on a base tour to see all our facilities as well as just have a cuppa with some morning tea and spend time together. In the afternoon we all went together to City Beach to cool off as the high temperature on Tuesday was a scorching 40 degrees Celsius! At the beach those who dared the waves went swimming, there were sports and games happening, and we all had a nice dinner together on our picnic blankets. This is always a highlight for all of us, gathering together as one big family to share a meal, laughter and good times!

The week has continued with new arrivals still coming and many times of welcoming each person to Perth. Students are being introduced to morning teas, our YWAM Perth birthday song, the history of our base and the beginning of their school lectures. What is most exciting though is that God has a specific plan and purpose for each individual in the context of the Great Commission, and we look forward to seeing this unfold over the next few months!
