Winter Camp 2012

Winter has just begun to settle on Western Australia. This means many things for Youth With A Mission Perth, but one thing the whole base is looking forward to is Winter Camp 2012. Nexwave, our active youth ministry, runs the annual camp for teenagers, and a staple of exhilarating games, mountains of food, and experiencing God on a new level.

At Winter Camp 2011, 80 teenagers packed up in vans and headed to out to the Forest Edge campsite in Waroona. There was plenty of laughter and wrestling, even a game where padded batons were used in mock, Gladiator-like battles. But, every year the camp differs. Whether it’s good, old fashioned rugby or capture the flag with glow sticks at midnight, Winter Camp always offers only the most adrenaline-fueled, bruise-earning activities.

Games aren’t the only things which are intense at Winter Camp though. The young people enrolled are taught by international speakers about God, His character, and His plan for their lives. Past campers have often talked how deeply they experienced God in an altogether new way on the camp.

So, maybe you know someone between the ages of 12–18? Or maybe you’re a teenager yourself. In any case, Winter Camp 2012 is happening July 9th through the 13th, and there are still spots available. Tuition is $250 AUD per camper, and we’ll be returning to Forest Edge Recreation Camp for our week of wild running and God encounters. It will undoubtedly be a winter to remember.
