WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Someone asked me the other day how I chose to do DTS at YWAM Perth. So I did a little reminiscing with them and thought I would share it with you all as well...

I wanted to set aside time to pursue God more and get to know Him better. I also knew there were things in my life that needed to be changed and didn't know how to change them. I wanted to travel, meet new friends and honestly, to visit Australia and enjoy the beautiful beaches! So I started to look online and see what options I could find. I found this website, saw some photos that looked like people were having a lot of fun and read some inspiring testimonies...then I wrote the Registrar's office to ask for some information. That's where it all started and 3 years later, I was on my way to DTS.

It took me a while to get to DTS because there was a lot of things I was waiting for. I was waiting for confirmation so clear it was like "writing in the sky", I was waiting to have all the money, I was waiting for my life to be changed more so I was "good enough" to go...but in looking back I realize that in that season of waiting, those things weren't the same things God was waiting for and my heart just wasn't in the right place.

There was a point where I remember things felt like they started to change...when I told God that if He wanted me to do this, to show me and to make a way...when I made a choice to trust that He would guide me and not try to figure it all out on my own first...when I made the first step, and sent in an application. The rest, as they say, "is history". What am I waiting for? Right now, I'm in my hometown, Moose Jaw, Sakatchewan, Canada, waiting for my visa nomination to be granted so I can apply for my visa to come back to Australia and lead the July DTS.

The "waiting" period can sometimes feel like the hardest part...our faith is tested...I have learned over the years, and yet again right now, in waiting - to align myself with Gods word, to believe in what He has spoken, to trust in Him and as the Psalmist says, "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him."
