EYES THAT CAN SEE!
eye testing makes a difference in India
A primary health care team travelled to the southern tip of Mizoram, India, where they worked with the Burmese people. Here they discovered the need for reading glasses. Many struggled to do their work, weaving, or reading which included the bible!. The health care team performed many simple eye checks and blessed the people with the gift of sight, by giving out pairs of reading glasses. The smiles on their faces as they saw words on a page was our reward after a long day! Later a health care worker found a Burmese man who lived in the area, was sitting on the porch doing paperwork. This man does much work for the food and transportation problems for the villagers inside Burma. He pulled out his glasses that he had received the day before, read and wrote what he needed to do, then folded the glasses put them back in his pocket and was on his way. Eye testing is a simple thing but one that brought great encouragement to us as a health care team knowing that these reading glasses will daily affect the work that this man does in serving the Lord through serving his people in Burma. And we got to be a part of that!
