FACES58 + THE AES

By Andrea Leisegang

Combination of ministry and learning using art to reach cities and nations!

Last year, Faces58 started running in collaboration with one of our training courses called The Art Evangelists School (AES), which runs every October to March. During this past school (2011/12), we joined together for the first time. It was an incredible addition to both the school and ministry.

The vision of The AES is to train up society-shifters who use art as their tool of choice. It is designed to teach visual artists into every sphere of society. Our goal as the AES is to equip those with a passion for visual arts to reach people from all nations. In order to meet the imperative needs of our planet, we believe God desires to ignite our passion to use the creative gifts He has given us! The AES is for those seeking a creative outlet to rejuvenate true beauty in today's world.
So far as a ministry and school combo, we're having a blast communicating the message of Jesus in a visual way.

During the school, we were able to participate a Faces58 project in seeing the city reached by doing live paintings on the streets of Perth, using it as a tool to draw people into conversation and bring a message of beauty. We took part in a city wide prayer event during Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), where we did a 'graffiti piece' of the nations joining together. We passed out pieces of paper to the public with a flower spray painted on it. "Bud and Flourish," was the theme. Many people responded and came to put their flower onto our piece in representation of them blessing the nations.

Over the past few weeks we've come together as a ministry and have had great times of doing evangelism and getting into our area. One day when we went out, we started with worship, then were able to draw two girls portraits and share the love of God with them.

Please continue to pray for openness in this city. We’d love to have more come and be a part of this vision – let us know if you’re interested!
