VISION

Learn English while gaining an understanding of your call in missions. Be challenged in your relationship with God, find your purpose in the Great Commission, and embark with us on the adventure!

ABOUT

English for Missions (EFM) is a 6-month course for students wishing to learn English and be trained in missions.

English has become the "lingua franca" throughout the world - it is the common language of commerce, education, science, and more. When people of different nations come together, English is the common language they use to communicate.

In EFM, we train people from around the world how to speak, read, write and listen in English...but isn't that something you could do anywhere? It's true that you could learn English somewhere else - but we are doing more here at the YWAM Perth EFM school than simply teaching English!

Our emphasis is to teach English for the purpose of missions...to train up missionaries to take the gospel into all the world. As we go into the world, we quickly discover that English becomes the way we communicate with nationals involved in various spheres of influence within their nation, with other missionaries, with supporters. Higher level training is generally in English, as are tools that will help us in completing the Great Commission.

This is not just another English course. This course is meant to equip you to fulfill the destiny God has placed in your heart, to jump over any barriers in your way, and to release you into the fullness of God's purpose.

You'll find that we don't run it like just another English course, either. We don't spend hours drilling you in grammar and going through workbooks. Language is about people and communication, so we spend lots of time interacting with each other and with people outside the classroom. You'll live with English speakers, pray with English speakers, work with English speakers, eat with English speakers, play with English speakers, worship with English speakers...this is what we call a "live-learn" enviornment, and it's the very best way to acquire your new language!

We encourage you to come...come to learn a new language, to experience God in a new way, to make new friends from around the world, to get equipped to go, and to jump out of the boat and into God's grace for you...it's a great adventure!
