Our bottom line is evangelism and discipleship. Is God calling you to this ministry? If so, step out and brace yourself for the adventure of a lifetime.
ABOUT
We are a part of Ark International, a ministry of YWAM Perth.
It has been said that ‘The least developed nations are the richest in children’ Unicef
And yet, the statistics for poverty, exploitation and disease FOR CHILDREN IN THESE NATIONS are staggering.
(list some statistics)
• Each day, 30,000 children die from easily preventable diseases (www.worldhungeryear.org)
• The best available estimate is that 1.2 million children are trafficked every year into the sex trade (United Nations State of the World’s Children 2006)
• 130 million children lack access to education (State of the World's Children, UNICEF, 1999)
• It is estimated that over 300,000 children are currently serving as child soldiers in armed conflicts worldwide. (Unicef – 2006)
As Ark International, we believe that ‘if you work with one generation it will change the next’.
Jesus passionately spoke about children in the bible – he not only clearly communicated their value but advocated on their behalf and acknowledged their need to grow in a holistic way – physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. With this in place, children become valuable contributors in our society and for future generations.
Children must be our priority because they are the gateway to the future and the next generation of leadership
It is estimated that in the next 30 years, 4.5 billion children will be born. Children are the next generation of LEADERSHIP and unless we are devoted to new & specialized initiatives, these little ones will not be given opportunities for education, health, equality and protection.
ARK INTERNATIONAL was founded in Perth, Australia in 2004 in response to the colossal need for dedicated, compassionate and christian workers to combat and advocate for children at risk worldwide.
And so, in response to the overwhelming need to strategically network within S.E. Asia, ARK International will be expanding and pioneering a hub operating location for Children at Risk.
Our aim is to develop a Children’s Resource Centre – CRC, in association with Australian Relief and Mercy Services – ARMS (www.arms.org.au) in Bangkok, Thailand in January 2007.
This vision was confirmed after a research trip in 2005. The results compiled, indicated that few if any networks focused on linking ministries together and providing support towards greater longevity.
Our mission as a CHILDREN’S RESOURCE CENTRE is to network, train and facilitate ministry, in the South East Asian region focusing on the specific needs for children at risk and their providing organizations, so that children can be restored, equipped and transformed for their unique contribution to the world.
WHAT IS THE CRC
In order to change a nation, we must first begin with the children.
It is here that intervention is most necessary. Issues such as mentoring in core values & respect, skill training, availability to education and the opportunity to access holistic health (physical, emotional, social and spiritual) must be intentionally targeted to influence these lives.
INTERVENTION IS POSSIBLE….HOWEVER, EVEN WITH THE BEST OF INTENTIONS, QUALITY AFTER CARE AND TRAINING IS OFTEN LIMITED AND INEFFECTIVE.
In essence, The Children’s Resource Centre can help address these needs. Our aim is:
1. To strengthen existing organizations by providing training in specialized areas of need.
2. To network and connect organizations with other networking agents to increase sustainability and greater effectiveness.
3. To provide a comprehensive data base that links organizations together and provides valuable and accessible assistance and information.
4. After the first 2 years, to see specialization in different areas with children at risk developed.
Initially in the first 2 years, we have targeted 3 primary areas that we can immediately tend to in Bangkok and surrounding regions of S.E. Asia. With some of the contacts already in place we will aspire in the areas of:
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
We will be targeting Non-government Organizations (NGO’s), Foundations, Government Structures, Churches & Family Units to address their specific need. Our focus in training will be to equip and train workers, develop structures and programs and run training seminars in specialized areas.
COUNSELLING & EDUCATION
One of the surveys we compiled in 2005 identified organization’s greatest need was that of ‘counseling’. Our desire is to supply and provide staff workers with TOOLS to assist in the holistic healing of the children in their midst. We would also like to provide connections to support groups and other needed assistance that would be beneficial for their ongoing growth and greater effectiveness.
DATABASE & NETWORKING
We have begun to compile a bi-lingual database of organizations within the greater Bangkok region. This is a huge undertaking but one that will link people and organizations to needed help and assistance. This database will endeavor to continue to build existing relationships with these organizations and agencies to work towards common goals and objectives to enhance the well being of children at risk.
