ABOUT

*The Biblical Core Course, or BCC, was formerly the School of Biblical Studies Core Course (SBSCC)

This course is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the inductive approach to Bible study, equipping you with many tools for integrating the Word of God into your personal life, and using it as a foundation for ministry.

As a student, you will learn how to employ many creative and diverse methods for reading, interpreting and applying the scriptures. You will also be involved in topical seminars, dramatic re-creations, and various forms of research, including historical, archaeological, literary and geographical studies.

During the course you will read through the whole Bible, and study many individual books in depth from both the Old and New Testaments. We will equip you to work with every form of literature in the Bible, including the Gospels, the Epistles, the Torah, Prophetic and Poetical books thus providing a holistic overview.

Besides learning the skills needed for studying the Bible, the Biblical Core Course (BCC) provides a means for learning how to incorporate the scriptures into areas of evangelism including, public proclamation, street preaching, worship and intercession. We learn how to memorize, and meditate in the Scriptures. We also give opportunities to gain experience in leading small group Bible studies, and in enhancing teaching and preaching skills.

As a part of Youth With A Mission Perth and a student of this course, we provide a broad range of learning opportunities. Other activities include worship, intercession, small groups, work duties, plus lots of fun times with friends and adventures in and around the City of Perth.

Outreach is a key part of the BCC as it is all about taking the skills taught in the classroom and applying them in a cross-cultural situation. It is a time to practice our teaching and preaching skills and to minister to people in their situations. This allows us to share the Gospel using the Word of God. Another benefit of outreach is coming alongside the local Church, strengthening and empowering the international body of Christ.

Though the Biblical Core Course is a stand-alone course, it is designed to be compatible with the longer nine month School of Biblical Studies (SBS). Should a student so desire, she or he may proceed on to the second and third quarters of the SBS upon successful completion of the Biblical Core Course.
