ART REFUGE TIMES

By Narelle Tout

Art times to refresh and encourage

Art Refuge holds art times one Saturday afternoon and one Monday night every month.

Derek Whitaker, from 98.5fm came one night and had this to say about it:

"Art Refuge Art night is a no pressure environment designed for hellacious expression not only artistically but conversationally. You don't have to know it all, be an artist, or have a huge impressive portfolio. Then again, you may be rather accomplished but just need to unwind or explore new ideas. Either way it's great news in this performance pressured world!

You can either learn your craft, practice one, experiment, or as I did just unwind with a light meal chatting to others while they sketched away. Take whatever you use to express yourself with. I saw an abundance of paper, pencils, and ink, and someone even had a video camera. And it's not just visual art that's encouraged. I was invited to write narrative. Instead I listened to stories through the company I kept - fascinating tales of different lands and cultures. You just never know what you might discover at Art Refuge's Art nights!"
